Growth, development and life-long learning are some of my core values. For that reason, I push myself to stay up to date with best-practices in education, and engage with as much quality professional development as possible.
2020 QPAT webinar series
Attending the 2020 QPAT webinar series was an invaluable experience. I was able to see a snapshot of the diverse resources available to educators.
I attended workshops titled, “Starling Minds Workshop: Stress And Anxiety Over COVID-19 Is Normal” and “EdTech Team Canada Best Practices for Learning and Teaching”. These professional development opportunities were very informative and gave me additional tools and resources to cope with the challenges of teaching during COVID 19.
Microsoft TEAMS workshops
I also attended two workshops titled “Getting Started with Microsoft Teams” and “Going Further with Microsoft Teams [Intermediate].”
I am now a Certified Microsoft Innovative Educator!
TEACH Mental Health Literacy
As an adult that cares for my students for a large portion of their waking hours, it is important that I am privy to their strengths, challenges, emotions and overall well-being. For this reason, I felt it was important for me to hone my mental health literacy skills. Taking the “TEACH Mental Health Literacy” professional development course allowed me to develop my knowledge of mental health concerns can present in school-aged children. This course has enhanced my knowledge of identifying mental health concerns in children, altered my perspective towards those struggling with mental health concerns, and has given me the tools and confidence to be able to refer children with mental health concerns to the appropriate health care resources in the community.
